AUSTRALIA: Theatre as Therapy for Refugee Kids

"Over the past 10 years, around 80,000 refugees have settled in Western Sydney – and the return of the Taliban to Afghanistan last year brought more refugees into the area. Among them are young Afghan refugees who have just started attending High School in Australia, and are also part of a special English and Drama program called Treehouse Theatre."

The Treehouse Theatre program is based on CBT-Exposure Therapy models of trauma recovery and Narrative Therapy, delivered in an environment informed by the trauma recovery goals espoused by Judith Herman (1993).
