Child Smile - Therapeutic Theatre in Gaza

During the earliest days of the war, alongside the first waves of displacement, a therapeutic theatre team was driven by one central question: "How can we help restore a sense of safety, expression, and joy for children living through extreme disruption and fear?"
From this need, the Ibtesamat Tifl (Child Smile) initiative began working directly in the field, reaching children where they were and creating safe, warm spaces grounded in play, drawing, storytelling, and emotional expression.
Magic Mitten is a structured psychosocial program grounded in therapeutic drama that invites children to explore complex emotions, such as fear, sadness, anger, and hope, through drama, storytelling, symbolic play, movement, and drawing, rather than through direct or clinical dialogue alone.
